WHO AM US, ANYWAY? Nobody sets out to become a THEN CAME BRONSON savant. It obviously comes as a function of having waaay tooooo much time on ones hands, a situation to which I must confess. This blissful state is a result of having served a 30 year sentence (well, actually 29 years 10 months-I got 2 months off for good behavior- before being paroled/retired at age 51) with GENERAL MOTORS building car parts in a great big factory. I managed to get a degree from Western Michigan University on GM's dime, majoring in Communications and Sociology, both areas that had absolutely no use in the grand scheme of automobile manufacturing. You could say that I was a slacker long before the term became fashionable, having taken every film class offered at WMU plus various other classes that refined the art of watching television and listening to radio. My real education occured outside the classroom, gleaned from such disparate sources as Frank Zappa, Firesign Theatre, John Steinbeck, Robert Perzig, Jack Kerouac, Lenny Bruce, Joe Heller, Robert Altman, Stanley Kubrick, Anthony Burgess, Shel Silverstein,Vonnegut,Groucho Marx, and a whole bunch of other "crouchin' on the outside" types. I've got three growed up kids, a wife who is tolerant enough to let me "live life my way" about 85% of the time, a 12 year old Basenji dog who still snarls at me(my next dog is going to be a fish), and a cat who is old enough to drive in the State of Michigan. Haven't been able to find work since I left GM, due to the fact that I refuse to work for any place who would hire people like me. (More to come.)
